To the editor:

On February 9 the BZA finally acted on the application of the Rappahannock Ski Corporation for special use permit as submitted in December.

It is interesting to note that the first hearing on whose agenda this matter appeared produced two things:

First, the applicant discovered that there were some fears held by local residents that he could put to rest by restrictively modifying his application, which he was more than willing to do.

Second, the board realized that additional time was needed to allow other people with concerns to speak out. A second hearing was scheduled. This time, all those present who wished to speak were heard. Even cross examination was permitted. The meeting ran quite late, but no one was left out. At the close of this second hearing, however, it was announced that no decision would be made at that time! Why not? Surely everyone had been given ample opportunity to present any pertinent facts for consideration.
