and subdivision ordinances. He suggested that the Planners work towards the adoption of one bound volume that will include zoning, subdivision and erosion control ordinances with a short statement of county goals and objectives.
These four components, he said, will satisfy legal requirements for a comprehensive plan.
The statement on goals should be written in language that a layman can understand and should place primary emphasis on preserving agricultural and forestal lands—in accordance with recently enunciated state policy, said Davis.
However, before serious work can begin on ordinance revisions, Davis told the Planners that they should contract for a series of maps that reflect conditions in Rappahannock. To be of value, maps must show:

—historic buildings and sites —existing businesses and industries —existing subdivisions and residential areas
