Although dissatisfaction is the exception rather than the rule, not all of the company’s customers have stayed happy. In secretary Carson Johnson’s files is a letter dated 1931 that says “you can’t cancel my insurance. I don’t want it any longer.”

But disgruntled policy holders have been few and far between. The company’s record of good business is best illustrated by customers like J. Stant Weaver. His family residence has been continuously insured by the “home town” company since his father Mark Weaver first took out a policy in 18%.
