Floating Rec Zone

Returning to his suggestion on a floating zone for commercial and public outdoor recreation, Davis said this zone should be geared to policies of the state for open air recreation.

“What could be one of the greatest assets of Rappahannock County is the proper use of outdoor recreation,” he maintained. Recreational uses don’t close off future agricultural development and “don’t clutter up the surface of the land to the extent that it would be difficult to restore to agricultural use.” Davis said.

Using a floating recreational zone rather than outlining specific areas for recreational use on a map also would prevent inflated price tags on recreationally designated property, according to Davis.

“I very strongly recommend that there be no uses except for agricultural purposes allowed on agricultural land,’’ the Commonwealth’s Attorney continued. All other uses, he advised, should be controlled
