National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Only land that went directly from private to federal ownership was eligible for “in lieu” payments, accordingly. Rappahannock received credit for only some 9,000 acres. This year, the county will receive increased annual payments, under a formula with a maximum of 75 cents per acre, on 22,691 acres.
Robinson reported that it is not yet known when Rappahannock might expect to receive payment. He noted that the Department of Interior had indicated earlier it hoped to have certification completed by late summer.
