Park Visits
Up 13 Percent
With the arrival of spring, visits to Shenandoah National Park have picked up. According to statistics released by superintendent Robert Jacobsen, park visits for March, 1979, total 76,900—an increase of 13.6 per cent over the 67,700 visits in March, 1978.
For Calendar Year 1979 compared with Calendar Year 1978, the increase is 2 per cent—from 135,300 in 1978 to 138,000 in 1979.
For March, Big Meadows weather statistics show a maximum temperature of 72 degrees and a minimum of nine degrees. Precipitation totaled 4.07 inches and snowfall amounted to five inches.
