Cars For Hams To buy a car back then, the prospective purchaser at the motor company wasn’t faced with the alternatives of a whopping down payment or the old car was a trade-in. Merrill had a novel approach. Once he swapped a vehicle for a bunch of steers. Another time, the trade was “a whole back end of a car full of hams.” That type of business arrangement was necessary.
