In addition, the county's educational program received compliments from an unexpected source. Dr Rodney Tilman, the S100 a day consultant considered for employment by the school board to evaluate elementary instruction, wrote the board that he felt his services weren't required.
Assistant superintendent McDaniel reported that Tilman had looked at the school, talked with teachers, visited classrooms, reviewed test scores and met with the administration at the elementary school. “After looking at the situation and seeing the progress that was being made, he didn’t see that he could offer anything to us," McDaniel reported. He added that Tilman had recommended the continued use of text book consultants as a resource for improving the reading program.

Candidacy
Cecil Baldwin of Sperryville has announced her candidacy for the seat of Supervisor from Piedmont District subject to the election in November. In declaring. Mrs. Baldwin stated that she is a native of Rappahannock County and attended school here. She is the former Cecil Burke.
Mrs. Baldwin is an active member of Sperryville Rescue Squad and is the license agent for the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles. She is married to Thomas Baldwin and together they own and operate West End Shell in Sperryville. They have three children, Danny and Thomas Jr., both of Sperryville and Geraldine B. Reeve of State College, Pa. and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Baldwin said, that if elected, she would serve her district and community in the verv best possible wav.
