Seventh District j Congressman J. Kenneth i Robinson has expressed opposition to a proposal issued by the U. S. Department of the Army last 1 Friday to close down Vint i Hill Farms Station in i Fauquier County. j
The Army department has i proposed to relocate Army , Intelligence and Security Command (INSCON) from Vint Hill and Arlington Hall Station in Arlington to Fort George Meade in Maryland.
Plans also call for Vint Hill’s Signals warfare laboratory to relocate in Woodbridge, Va., and for the Fauquier installation's U. S. Army Electronics Material Readiness Activity (EMRA) to move to Fort Monmouth, N. J., and Tobyhanna Army Depot, Pa.
a “1 am much concerned by the announcement that the Army is contemplating phasing out operations at Vint Hill Farms Station over the next few years,” Robinson stated.
“It should be kept in mind at this time, however, that the decision is not final. It is a recommendation now in a 30-day comment period.
Robinson suggested that local officials and other concerned citizens who desire to protest the proposed phase-out of operations at Vint Hill during the 30-day public comment period should address their concerns before April 27th to: Department of the Army, Attention: SALL, The Pentagon, Washington, D. C. 20310.”
