pressures as the major causes of juvenile delinquency in Rappahannock. Too many kids, she said, are busy trying to be “cool” and belittle their contemporaries who take part in 4-H, scouting and other activities they think are "sissy.” She emphasized that a list of delinquency causes drawn up by youngsters would include few of the tactors listed by adults.
(Only one of the 25 causes originally considered was suggested by the teenagers present at the Task Force meeting. That cause, “no one to talk to,” was listed as number four in the final tally.)
Katie Morgan agreed to contact school personnel to investigate the possibility of doing a student survey during study hall periods.
Further work on the opinion poll of service professionals as to the causes of juvenile delinquency and on the survey of area agencies, civic groups and churches that provide projects, programs and services for youth will continue at the next Task Force meeting, scheduled for Monday, April 10, at d p.m. in the Washington Baptist Church.
Any youngsters or adults who wish to participate in the Task Force project are urged to attend the meeting.
