Rappahannock Mews Staff Writer In apparent response to :hallenges from the local :hapter of the Izaak Walton League, the Rappahannock Ski Corporation reapplied to :he zoning administrator on ruesday for a building permit for its snowless gravity slide. In addition, the Ski Corporation submitted a site levelopment plan to the ;ounty planning commission at Wednesday night’s meeting, showing location of the Alpine slide and other expanded recreational facilities at the Harris Hollow Ski Area.
“The ski corporation’s position from the outset has been that where doubt exists regarding compliance with Rappahannock's zoning ordinance, we have always resolved that doubt in favor of compliance,” said ski area attorney Douglas Baumgardner. “To be consistent and to lay to rest questions regarding legal validity, we are reapplying for a building permit and applying to the planning commission for approval of a site development plan,” he said on Monday.
In a letter presented to the Rappahannock Supervisors at their March meeting, the county chapter of the Izaak Walton League challenged the validity of the building permit issued to the ski corporation last August.
