We were instructed before we came to China that we couldn’t make any individual gifts to people. Our group agreed to bring two Polaroid cameras with plenty of film so we could take photographs of the Chinese who greeted us and showed us around their facilities. The idea has proved sensationally successful. >

In addition, we decided to bring a few inexpensive gifts which we could pool and give out as the situation warrented. Lee brought scenic calendars, several maps from The National Geographic Society and a beautiful dictionary. I brought books suitable for students studying English. Others brought puzzles, frisbees, Chinese-American dictionaries and more scenic calendars—things which might be enjoyed at shcool and place of work or which our special guides could use to improve their English.

Gifts that the rest of the group will take to the school
