The Washington Volunteer Fire Department has placed one of its members on oneyear probation following his unauthorized use of a fire truck on April 1. The member was also prohibited from driving for the fire department for one year. In addition, he must complete a defensive driving course before being allowed to drive again.
The individual involved took the fire truck from the station in Washington to the Lee orchards on Fodderstack Road where the vehicle became disabled. He has apologized to the fire department and the department apologizes to the community for the incident.
