“It needs gravel, widening, ditches—it 'needs everything,” said Anne Ellis, resident on Route 680. “If we had that $15,000 for 680, it’d be great...Culverts have been there for 50 years but they’re all stuck up with mud,” she told the supervisors.
Askew agreed to put major improvements for 680 into the six-year road plan and to install culverts this fiscal year. "Let’s get the pipe in and we’ll go from there,” he said.
For Route 637 in Jackson and Wakefield Districts, Askew suggested adding spot work to improve sight distances on hills to the sixyear plan if the necessary right-of-way can be obtained. He added that surface treatment for certain sections
included in the current .Jejtr’s budget and will be started in the spring.
Askew reported that the truss bridge on Route 637 is also scheduled for improvements in the six-year plan. "If there is a danger, we’ll have to take emergency action,” he said, promising to send the board a copy of the latest engineer’s report on the bridge.
