RECOGNITION AND

HONOR FOR

EVA LONG SMITH

Deputy Clerk of Courts

of Rappahannock County Sept. 18, 1962 to Oct. 26, 1979

At a special meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County, Virginia held this 29th day of October, 1979, it was duly moved and seconded that:

WHEREAS, EVA LONG SMITH performed her duties as Deputy Clerk of Courts for Rappahannock County in a devoted and dedicated manner from September 18, 1962 to October 26, 1979

and

WHEREAS, She was kind, courteous and cheerful in greeting all who entered the Clerk's Office whether on business or to ask for information,

and

WHEREAS, EVA kept the books and ledgers of the County Clerk's Office in a neat, meticulous and accurate manner,

and

WHEREAS, She always prepared the county checks on time for accounts due and made a special effort to have them signed so that no one was late in receiving their salary,

and

WHEREAS, EVA always kept the Clerk's Office'stocked with the most delicious homemade cookies, cakes, and pies,

and

WHEREAS, EVA LONG SMITH, who died October 26, 1979, will no longer be with us in person, her spirit and the many fond memories of all who knew her will be with us for the rest of our days,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY: That all citizens of Rappahannock County share in the sorror and sadness by the loss of our dear friend and colleague EVA LONG SMITH who gave so unstintingly of her time and energy in behalf of Rappahannock County. May her soul rest in peace.
