Smith
Mrs. Eva Long Smith of Flint Hill died in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal on Friday, October 26, 1979. She was 68, born February 23, 1911 in Penn Laird, Rockingham County. She was the daughter of the late Rev. C. E. Long and Sally Stella Stickley.
Mrs. Smith was graduated from Daleville Academy in Daleville and attended Dunsmore Business School in Roanoke.
She was the widow of Galley Washington Smith whom she married in 1937. She was a member of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S. of the church and the Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary.
She was the deputy clerk for 18 years of the Rappahannock County Circuit Court and General District Court, retiring in December 1978.
Survivors include two sons, Galley Washington Smith III of Birmingham, Ala. and Charles Long Smith of Windsor.
A funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Peter Weems, was held Monday at the Flint Hill United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were W. A. Buntin, Emory Russell, Robert Massie, Frank Huff, Lynn Atkins, J. W. Fletcher.
