with $1,756 worth recovered, a recovery rate of little over 10 per cent. From January to June of 1979, $9,000 worth of property was stolen and $5,423 recovered, a recovery rate of over 60 per cent.
In addition to the performance of his department on paper, Buntin has show n himself to be compassionate and understanding with the problems youngsters face, with the special problems of the elderly, with emergencies in the life of each average citizen. Buntin to office on Tuesday.
George Beard
Let us also send George Beard back to Richmond. Reports from the capital indicate he enjoys non-partisan support from Democrats and Republicans alike. In his first term as delegate from the 25th district, he gained respect and deference awarded to few freshman legislators.
Beard, a Republican, is facing no challenge from Democrats for reelection. This lack of opposition from the other party appears to indicate that the Culpeper banker and former school board member is doing a good job representing ALL the voters. What higher accolade can a politician earn?
We know he’s been responsive to constituents here in Rappahannock. George Beard is never further away than a phone call and has been available to help citizens with a wide variety of problems. He has also managed to find the right balance between listening and being led around by the nose bv special interest groups.
Once they’ve tasted power, there are many office holders who can’t live without it. They’d rather starve than return to the bland diet of the average fellow.
Not George Beard. After two years in Richmond with the folks who call the shots in state government, he's come back to the 25th district free of selfimpotance. He’s still unassuming, friendly and approachable and we think he’ll stay that wav for two years and longer. The re-election of George Beard on November 6 will keep a friend for Rappahannock in Richmond.
