additional classrooms at the elementary school may result in the purchase of two temporary units there for next year. “That’s two more temporary classrooms plus the three already added at the high school this year,” he said.

Spending money for trailers to be used as temporary classrooms is “money poured down the drain (because) four years ago no one had the guts to look forward and say we’ve got to expand these schools,” Kilpatrick said. He asked school board member Robert Eastham for the current status of the school system’s capital improvements program.

Noting that he was not on the board “when the hassle took place last spring,” Eastham said he’d been shown the crowded conditions at the high school that day by superintendent William Bloomer. “It’s not a dead issue,” he stated.
