In another marathon session that saw only agenda items under “old business” covered before midr’^^t, the Rappahannock school board last week decided to add $7,000 for an educational consultant to the proposed 198(^81 school budget.
In a three-one vote with chairman Beverly Massie opposed, the board agreed to buy the educational consultant component of a $21,00 package deal presented two weeks ago by KDA, an architectural firm based in Reston.
The board members met with Dr. Paul J. McCormick from Flemington, New Jersey, last Friday in a tour of schools in Chantilly and McLean that focused on maximum space utilization through the use of movable partitions for walls. Apparently reflecting the views of the entire board, Eastham repeatedly stated that he’d been most impressed with McCormick, KDA’s educational expert.
He proposed hiring McCormick to evaluate programming, scheduling and use of existing space at both schools to determine if current facilities can be divided, possibly with moveable partitions, to handle demands for more room. "If an independent
