Traffic Crash

Mechanical failure resulted in a single vehicle accident early Friday morning May 16. on Route 211.

According to Virginia State Trooper R. A. Baines, James David Ferguson of Jeffersonton was traveling eastbound near Hackley’s Store in Amissville, pulling a trailer in his 1966 Chevrolet dump truck, when a vehicle in front of him stopped to make a left turn onto Route 642. When Ferguson applied his brakes, the steering mechanism on his truck broke, causing him to swerve out of control and strike a guard rail, Baines reported.

The collision caused approximately S800 in damage to the guard rail. Ferguson suffered only minor injuries which did not require hospitalization, according to Baines.
