He hardly leaves the nest long enough, to eat and objects with a series of peculiar noises when he is disturbed by anyone. Charlie, a Royal Palm Turkey, lost his mate and two poults to stray dogs or a fox several weeks ago. The Hitts are keeping close watch to see if he really hatches chickens and what he will do then. He has been on the nest six days.
