The water system has met the town’s needs with no supply problems except in 1977.

A severe drought and an undetected leak that year caused considerable concern. The leak was located, repaired, and the mini-crisis was over.

Conservation measures were employed by the town during this period. That summer we drilled a well that did not produce enough water to add to our water system.

The system has about 13,600 ft. of water pipes in the town. This consists of cast iron and galvanized pipe. An engineer foretold us that the galvanized lines should be replaced (6,500 ft.).
