If your tomato leaves are curling up and wilting it may not be just the dry weather. Turn the leaves over and inspect the underside very carefully. You may find as many as 10 or 20 small aphids clustered on the underside of the leaf.

These small insects suck out the plant juices and if the population is high they can cause the tomato plant to wilt and eventually die.

During the past few days, 1 have found aphids on tomatoes in every area of Rappahannock County. In about 50 percent of the cases there have been enough to justify spraying. Spray the under side of the leaves with Malathion or Spectracide. Either one of these materials will usually give good control. CAUTION: Do not use
