"Did we start with a full coal bin?” asked Newbill Miller.
Bloomer answered that the high school's storage bin had been full when the 1979-80 fiscal year began.
“And we’ll be ending the year without one?” Miller inquired.
Again Bloomer answered yes.
Chairman Beverly Massie recalled that the board had voted 4-1 at its June 9 meeting to retain the philosophy of using unexpended funds for necessary projects rather than returning all unspent money to the general fund at the close of the fiscal year.
She noted that the superintendent had submitted for financing a list of 19 items, including filling the fuel tanks and coal bins at both schools, purchasing custodial supplies and overhauling the high school drainfields.
The list, she said, totals twice as much as the $12,401 available in the 1979-80 budget.
“My vote as the representative from Jackson District is to use that money." Mrs. Massie stated.
