$3900 to pay for musical instruments. The budget the board submitted to the supervisors had in it $3000 for musical instruments, but the supervisors cut that out. The instrumental music program, which is supposed to be for any child with the talent and interest to learn to play an instrument, will continue to be for those whose parents are able and willing to provide them with instruments.
The taxpayers will never see any of the $3900. The supervisors have already collected it from us. They will not collect any less this year because that $3900 has been returned to them. The vote to return the $3900 was a completely futile gesture, and another example of the sort of thing which will cost us more in the long run. This is the sort of board action which the voters overwhelmingly rejected in the referendum.

There were many volunteers who weren’t able to attend our picnic on Saturday. June 21, to receive the thanks of the Rappahannock Board of the American Cancer Society. We wish to thank ALL of the people who gave their time and hard work to collect funds and to thank those who generously contributed.
Anyone who wasn’t contacted by a volunteer during the recent Cancer Crusade and who would like to make a donation to the fight against cancer may send a check made out to the American Cancer Society to either Mrs. Pauline Bruce, Sperryville, or Mrs. Dorothy Mank. Washington.
