Stokes’ motion to pay for elementary school fuel oil (S6.459) and coal (S2.042) passed by the same 3-2 margin with Masterson and Eastham again voting together.

Eastham next asked for a few minutes at the July board meeting for a discussion on how the school board adopts and monitors its budget and how it coordinates its figures with the county budget determined by the supervisors.

Miller agreed such a study would be a good idea. “And Bob, you did say a few minutes." he laughed.

Eastham added that he was particularly concerned over three categories in the 1979-80 budget where it appears that the school board has overspent the amount approved last year by the supervisors.

“It’s just a matter of understanding the accounting procedures and 1 thought your discussion with Mr. Cox (county accountant) had enlightened you on that point,” Miller responded.
