Dick McNear, Rappahannock resident and professional planner for neighboring Fauquier County, met with the Rappahannock planning commissioners on January 21 in the first step of the long postponed review of the county’s zoning and subdivision ordinances.
Commissioner Newbill Miller noted that the supervisors had authorized engaging McNear to assist the planning commission with the ordinance revision.

Arson Case
A Rappahannock grand jury, called back into special session on Wednesday, January 28 returned a true bill for arson against Robert Clarence Martin of Sperryville. Martin is charged in the burning of four bams on C. E. "Ned” Johnson Jr.’s farm in Sperryville on Halloween night, Otetober 31,1980. Witnesses called before the five-member grand jury included Michael O’Connor, special arson investigator from the Virginia State Police, Rappahannock Sheriff W. A. Buntin and C. E. Johnson Jr.
