Only two weeks into their first season, the Wakefield Ski Racing Team has won six silver and 21 bronze medals in NASTAR competitions at Bryce Mountain in Bayse. The team is composed of six boys, ages 9 to 16, all of whom are honor roll students.

The ski racing program at Wakefield School at Huntly was developed as part of the school’s athletic program and is under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Viafore, a professional racing instructor. In 1960 Viafore, competing at the junior national level, was selected to train with the U.S. Olympic ski team. Since then he has coached and taught youth racing teams in Europe and California.
