For an earlier display, students interviewed and photographed cafeteria workers, custodians, bus drivers and other school support personnel, transcribed and edited the interviews and then hung the responses with the photographs on the cafeteria bulletin board.
Individual projects reflect the students' personal Interests. They range from drawings of the human skeleton, glands and organs that will be transferred onto three tee-shirts to an original magazine, U. S. Gazette, with a “terrible but true” section featuring photos of firing squads, airplane crashes and other disasters. “Those are things from today's world that our children are trying to deal with,” Laurie explained.
