Wednesday at the GeestJohnson Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper by the Rev. Kirby Shenk. Burial was in Sperryville Cemetery.
Mrs. Compton. 89, died Monday, February 23, 1981 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Clarence Compton and the daughter of the late Marcus William Bruce and Inez Heaton. Mrs. Compton was a native of Rappahannock County and a member of Thornton Gap Regular Baptist Church near Sperryville.
She is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Phillip Palmer of Culpeper and Mrs. Jack Johnston of Boston; two sons, Robert W. Compton of Falls Church and Clarence Jackson Compton of Culpeper; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Brown and Miss Elva 'Bruce, both of Woodville and a brother. Marion Brown of Woodville.
