House tax relief bills were killed in Committee. This includes the food tax. prescription drug tax and the "Robin Hood" tax bill. We just learned .today .that * President Reagan's economic plan will cost the State of Virginia some S47 million in federal funds for education. Pretty close to the same figure the General Assembly appropriated this year from part of the surplus. Wonder what will happen by 1982 when we get further cuts on other programs which are expected to be conducted. The Senate did amend last year's fuel oil bill which eliminated the sales tax, to take effect in October 1981 instead of July 1982.
I'ts hard for me to believe that besides the fuel oil bill, the only tax reduced was the tax restaurants, hotels and clubs pay on bulk alcohol. This rascal passed the Senate and squeaked by the House on 52 to 43 vote. Would you believe I was the only Delegate to speak out against it on the Floor. I was able to get at least 43 no votes. The A.B.C. people claimed and proved that there will be a tax loss of $1,650.00 which
