Thank goodness the Senate Finance Committee amended the Mini-Budget to give more funds for Germanna to keep the positions we worked for last year. All the House did was to add a 2 percent increase to the present salaries of teachers at Germanna. The House Appropriations Committee approved a resolution, which everyone supported, requesting local governments to assure that part of the increase in funds for secondary education be used to bring teachers salaries up as close as possible to neighboring States. There was an effort in the Senate to send an extra $10 million for urban schools but this time it failed, (one for the rural boys.)

It is estimated that there are about 10.000 of them, which would bring about $2 million in revenue to help defray the cost of their supervision.
