The old clock on the balcony of the House is slowly winding down as we wade through a sea of Senate Bills and House Bills with Senate amendments in this the last week of the General Assembly. 1 agree with the Speaker, when he forgot his mike was still on and blurted out. "Good Lord, the Senate would amend the Lord's Prayer if the House sent it over." We will have quite a few amended House Bills to iron out which may cause a delay on Saturday.
In an effort to increase the use of domestic steel on State projects costing over $50,000.00 a bill was first killed and then brought back and passed by 6 votes. Contractors must use domestic steel unless bids are more than 10 percent higher than the foreign bids. How this is going to be policed is beyond my imagination. A Delegate here swore he had recently seen a Toyota with a bumper sticker which read “Buy American".
Bills on both sides of the General Assembly are falling like flies in the winter time. The “Camera in the Court Room” blew a .tube in a Senate Committee and is gone for this Session. All
