Freeman
Funeral services for James Edwards Freeman of Washington were conducted Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Burial was in the Oddfellow Cemetery.
Mr. Freeman died Tuesday. February 17, 1981 at his residence. He was a retired bricklayer.
He is survived by two brothers. Robert Freeman and Charlie Freeman, both of Washington and three sisters. Mrs. Nancy Pointer. Mrs. Betty Copeland and Mrs. Mary Rachael Hicks, all of Washington, D. C.
Monger
The Rev. Joe Benjamin Monger. 59. of Mobjack. pastor of two United Methodist Churches in Mathews County died Sunday. February 22. 1981 in Walter Reed Memorial Hospital in Gloucester.
He entered the ministry full time in 1968 serving the Winchester Methodist District. He came to Mathews County in 1978 after serving at Stokesland on the Danville District.
A graduate of Duke University, he attended the Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music for two years.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife. Mrs. Beulah Monger; two daughters. Mrs. Rebecca Hawkins of Front Royal and Miss Brenda Monger of Mobjack; two sisters. Mrs. Hilda Stewart of San Jose. Calif., and Mrs. Nora Fanning of Alabama, and a brother. Hubert W. Monger of Culpeper.
