meeting of Feb. 10, 1976,
Commonwealth’s Attorney George Davis told the supervisors that the judges who sat at the Rappahannock Court House needed more space. Opposition to the proposition came from Supervisor H. B. Wood, who said: “We had 7,000 people living in the county 20 years ago, and now we’ve only got 5,000 and we need more space! ”
The new Rappahannock County Sheriff, William Bun tin, asked for an additional deputy to help keep up with the rising Rappahannock County crime rate. He compared Rappahannock’s tiny force with that of nearby Madison, which had at that time ten or twelve people.
