Merrill also began her career at Rhode Island School of Design’s art department, studying both photography and art. “But you have to be practical,” she noted. “Most people can’t afford to buy paintings or even photographs.”
She too turned to education.and still holds two teaching jobs, one at Grymes School in Orange and another at Highland School in Warrenton.
But in the meantime, she had lri$d h*r; band at painting ceramic tiles. "I made a couple of tiles and Phillip framed them out. They looked so neat but they weren’t very functional. We put my tiles together with his woodworking and came up with a knife rack.”
