“We had no low-dose mannography, ultrasound, thermography, biologic markers and modifiers and we didn’t have hundreds of chemotherapeutic compounds to choose from for our cancer patients. Also we didn’t know very much about cancer in black Americans of other minority groups. We were babes in the woods about the psychosocial impact of cancer and the world of rehabilitation was quite unknown because so many of our patients died. The progress made has been enormous, indeed.”
Credit for strides made over the last 40 years goes to the research scientist, the medical profession and every day people who have given generously to Cancer Crusade volunteers.
