Check various dealers by asking friends about their experiences. Ask the dealer about the different kinds of tires. Ask about warranties, guarantees and problems with various types of tires. Be cautious of a dealer who gives short, innocuous non-factual statements.
Check with local police officals about laws regarding snow tires. Also ask their advice.
Don't mix radials and regular-bias tires on the same car. The different types cause unequal traction which may result in the car’s fishtailing. Keep the proper inflation as suggested by the automobile owners’ manual.
Check the tread on the tires weekly. Don't use a tire with tread below one-eighth of an inch.
