I read with considerable interest your article referring to 3 natives of Rappahannock County that were World War One veterans that saw service in France. In this particular connection 1 beg to advise that I am also a native born in Rappahannock County, born in Sperryville Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 1894 making me 87 years of age.
I saw service in England and France during World War One. I was a corporal attached to Hqs. 3rd. U.S. Cavalry with Hqrs. at Baur Les Bains. Here our outfit broke Remount horses and carried them by rail to the 1 si bivision on several fronts. My overseas service terminated after 21 months. When I returned to the states I was sent to Ft. Ethan Allen, Vt. with squadrons 1st and 2nd.
Later 1 rejoined the 3rd squadron and Hqrs. at Ft. Myer, Va. There I reenlisted and was sent to the 4th Cavalry on the Mexican border and was made Sergeant. In 1922 1 agair
