The Christmas season, a time of gifts and magic for tiny tots, is a time too when carelessness can steal the gift of life itself, warns one medical expert on accidental poisonings.
Parents and adults must pay a particular concern for exposure of toddlers and youngsters to toxic substances during the holiday season, warns Dr. Lome Garrettson. director of the Central Virginia Poison Center at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals here.
Dr. Garrettson noted that prevention is the paramount approach to holiday poisonings. Young children can be injured by exposure to toxicity in some decorations, toys, drugs, plants and alcohol.
