Natural gas supplies are abundant this winter, but higher costs mean conservation is more important than ever in holding the line on heating bills, according to Columbia Gas.
Supplies of gas in underground storage are at a record high, providing assurance of ample gas even if the winter is 10 percent colder than normal, said Lacy G. Sanford, area manager for Columbia Gas of Virginia.
“However, the costs of natural gas and other forms of energy have risen and we urge customers to winterize their homes to help ease the impact of these increases,” he added. Columbia is offering a free, 31-page booklet, The Everyday Energy Saver’s Guide, with dozens of suggestions for saving natural gas and other energy forms.
