Conference

Operators of pick-yourfarms, roadside markets and farmers markets or those interested in starting one will have a chance to “pick the brains” of the experts at the third annual Virginia Direct Marketing Conference to be held at the Fort Magruder Inn in Williamsburg on March 3 and 4.

The conference is being sponsored by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Virginia Tech and the Farmers Direct Marketing Association of Virginia with the theme “Direct Marketing A Fresh Approach.”

Designed to help PYO and farm market operators improve their marketing skills and effectiveness, the conference will showcase successful market operators and marketing specialists from all over the United States.

Featured speakers will address such topics as Family Teamwork in Direct Marketing; Selling in Specialized Markets; Promoting Your Direct Marketing Operation; and Maintaining Quality Production. In addition, more than 50 exhibitors will display and discuss their products or services geared to direct marketers. As a special highlight, conference participants will be able to sample Virginia wines and fresh Gouda cheese during the social hour. Anyone wishing to stay at the Fort Magruder Inn must make their own room reservations by February 2, 1982.
