Accidents never take a holiday.
To help make your upcoming holiday season safe, follow these precautions:
—Clear walks and steps of ice, snow and other potential hazards.
—Take frequent rest breaks when shoveling snow, and never shovel snow immediately after a big meal.
—Select a fresh Christmas tree or a fire-resistant artificial one. —Check tree lights for broken sockets and frayed wires, and replace them if damaged.
—Turn on outdoor lights at night when you expect company.
—Be alert for drivers who have had too much “holiday cheer.” —Dress properly for the weather. Note the wind-chill factor as well as the temperature.
