Mrs. Cartwright-Brown’s business includes only bed and breakfast but her natural friendliness has led her toward becoming an unofficial expert on local spots of interest so she can direct guests through a day in Rappahannock.
"Most of them are interested in antiqueing so I send them to the shops in Sperryville and Washington. Or I direct them up the hill to look at the graveyard and old house or down to Arlene’s for fresh cream or to Mrs. Jenkins’ for eggs to take back to the city.”
She’s working at enlarging her listing of things to see and places to go, quizzing local visitors about craftspeople and dining opportunities in the area.
State regulations limit Sandra to serving only packaged breakfasts to her paying guests. "But when friends came, 1 can serve them anything,” she added. And Sandra CartwrightBrown has a way of turning visitors to her country inn at Slate Mills into friends.'
