(Continued from Page 1) In theory the money for salaries could come from the state Compensation Board if the station handles law enforcement dispatch. Rosson noted, however, that this was an unlikely source of funds since the compensation board earlier told former supervisors chairman E. P. Luke that paying salaries for four and a half persons to dispatch three and a half deputies was not cost effective. particularly when Rappahannock can still receive free law enforcement dispatch from Culpeper.
Joint Dispatch
Rosson noted that the $11,600 grant can be used to pay part of the county’s share in financing a joint, upgraded dispatch system with Culpeper, an alternative proposed earlier but rejected by Culpeper’s fire and rescue association. The supervisors of that county have agreed to purchase communications equipment, however, and may reconsider the option of a shared dispatch system.
