Weather is the big story this far into the New Year.
First it was ice and freezing rain here on New Year's Hve. then record setting cold compounded by strong winds the following week, and most recently, seven inches of snow that blanketed the countryside last Wednesday just before new lows were set over the weekend as another blast of arctic air swept down from Canada.-..
In Rappahannock, the sub-zero temperatures caused discomfort, inconvenience and added expense for repairs to broken pipes but the county escaped the tragedies left in the wake of frigid cold elsewhere in the nation.
