Virginia has entered an agreement with the U. S. Department of Agriculture that will make surplus processed cheese available o local welfare offices and regional FOODBANKS for distribution to needy individuals early in February.
Under the agreement local welfare departments may elect to make cheese available to people enrolled in the food stamp program.
Nancy Reeve. acting director of the Rappahannock welfare department, reported on Friday that her department has elected to participate in the program.
She noted that welfare personnel will have the obligation of picking up the cheese and arranging for its proper distribution. Beyond that. Reeve said, she has no further information at this time but will make announcements as soon as she receives notice.
