Judge John Alexander moved quickly through the general district court docket on Friday, settling three cases in less than a half hour as the result of plea bargains struck with the Commonwealth.
On the recommendation of commonwalth's attorney Douglas Baumgardner, felony charges of felonious assault against Robert Pendleton of Huntly were amended to assault and battery, a misdemeanor. In return. Pendleton pleaded quilty to the reduced charge and was sentenced to 12 months in jail. The term was suspended and Pendleton placed on two years supervised probation, contingent upon his general good behavior, payment of S100 fine plus costs and payment of victim Clarence D. Jones' medical bills of SI.691 on schedule to be set by the probation officer.
Charges of rape lodged against James Phillips, Jr., of Amissville. were nol prossed on Baumgardner's recommendation. The commonwealth's attorney reported that his recommendation came after review
