John Sawii Dodson, 79, of Sperryville died Friday, January 15. 1982. in University of Virginia Hospital. Charlottesville.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Clore Funeral Home Chapel in Culpeper by the Rev. John Burke and Rev. Kirby Shenk. Burial was in the Dodson family cemetery at Sperryville.

Mr. Dodson was born in Rappahannock County. August 17. 1902, son of the late John Franklin and Virgie Elsie Jenkins Dodson. He was j retired farmer. Surviving are his widow, Pearl Atkins Dodson; four laughters. Mrs. Janet Vest of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Jo Ann Buracker and Mrs. Pearl Sadine Atkins, both of sperryville and Mrs. Lou Madeline Good of Stanley; Four sons. John Dodson of Houston. Texas. Netus Dodson and Mac Dodson, both of Sperryville and Maurice Wayne Dodson of Madison; and 19 grandchildren.

Also surviving are four sisters. Catherine Dodson and Mrs. Ollie Atkins, both of Luray. Pearl Kastlen of Martinsburg. W. Va. and Mrs. Joseph Atkins of Sperryville; and two brothers. Hencil Dodson of Sperryville and Vernon Dodson of Martinsburg, W. Va.
