charged with passing a forged government check of $432 at Graham Hackley's general merchandise store in Amissville on or about July 5. 1981.

In a companion case. Judge Alexander refused to certify Frances Faulkner to the grand jury on charges that she was an accessory before the fact in obtaining money by false pretenses. According to testimony given at the preliminary hearing, Faulkner formerly of Amissville and now residing in Culpeper, accompanied Coates to the store, introducing him to Hackley as her cousin.

Charles Henry Atkins of West Virginia failed to show up for the hearing on charges against him of driving drunk and being an habitual offender. At the request of the commonwealth. Alexander rescheduled the hearing for January 19.
